The 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10) was held in Tokyo from July 16th to 18th, with the participation of leaders from Pacific Island nations such as the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Fiji, French Polynesia, the Republic of Kiribati, and ministerial-level representatives from Australia and New Zealand.
The PALM was initiated by Japan in 1997 to strengthen partnerships and contribute to the stability and prosperity of the region. Since then, it has been held in Japan every three years.
During this summit, as a symbol of the strong ties between Japan and the Pacific region, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida presented the participating leaders with table runners made from Kaga Yuzen, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique. These gifts were selected from products by our jac shop here. We plan to share more details about this in our upcoming blog posts, so stay tuned!
